Hyderabad Briyani
Myself and Bharath were on the way to Anjappar and before reaching the greams road bridge, we suddenly had the idea to try this Hyderabadi Briyani. The shop is located at the junction, where the Greams road and Egmore Bridge meets.

I have seen Hyderabadi Briyani many times when crossing that bridge to reach haddows road. Thought about giving a try today. So we parked the bike and entered the restaurant.

Appearence:
The Hyderabadi Briyani restaurant was crowded and they have 3 or 4 tables on the platfrom itself. The tables are not close to the road, so it is safe. While entering I noticed the tandoori kitchen is located outside, and is covered with partitions. There is another service counter which serves Coke. The steps lead into the shop and inside the shop there is seating for 20 people with ample space and decent interiors. The tables are not plastic/polymer and the chairs.. well.. i would say "chair-o-stools", are pretty okay. It is a stool with a 10 cm height backrest.

Service:
There are two captains to pick up the orders. And there are servers who serve the food and beverages.

Menu:
The speciality is the combos. They have around some 8 combo meals and among that, few are vegeterian. Each combo meal has a main course (mutton, chicken, prawn, egg, fish and vegetable briyani) and two additional pieces of chicken / fish (Tandoori or Fry). You also get onion raitha, brinjal chatni, and a glass of coke. The cost of the combos range from Rs.40 to 55 appx. Apart from this menu you have A-la-carte too.

Taste:
We ordered Egg Briyanis and Chicken Tikka from the A-la-carte menu. Contrary to madras tradition, only one egg featured in the briyani. I was digging more and more hoping to find another egg.. but sorry. Strictly one egg. The briyani quantity is limited and one average person could consume it fully. Not much.. not less.. but sufficient. The taste of the briyani is exactly what you expect from a typical mughal/hyderabadi flavour. 4/5 stars!

The briyani was not oily, but little dry. You can add the raitha and chatni to add more taste. The Brinjal chatni which was served first, tasted little bland. Laster when the chatni was served again, i found the taste is okay. Donno how !

The tikka was served with dry onions and pudina chatni. Though it doesnt have any great or spectacular taste, it tasted decent. 3/5 stars.

We had 3 egg briyanis and one chicken tikka.. plus two glasses of coke. Altogether the bill reached Rs.130. I would say this restaurant is not costly nor cheap. The combo meals should be real Value for Money deals, than the a-la-carte menu.

Conclusion:
Concluding, this restaurant offers briyanis in mughal/hyderbadi style and proves to be a good "Value for Money" restaurant.

Oh btw, there is no A/C. Also, at peak times you may have to wait till a table is available. The restaurant is very busy for most of the time.

Rating : 3.8 out of 5 stars
